Where we started.

Wizard began in Canberra in 1992, training public servants and the businesses around them on software that was then new to most desks. More than three decades later the software has changed completely and the job has not: someone has to sit in a room with people and get them from not being able to do a thing to being able to do it.

That is still the whole business. Not a library of videos. Not a subscription. A person at the front of a room, 75 courses, and a workbook you take home.

Part of Nexacu.

In 2024 Wizard joined Nexacu, part of the Lumify Group. In practice that means one shared schedule across the country rather than two — so a Wizard course in Perth runs on the same calendar, at the same standard, as everything else in the group.

Public course bookings and schedules run through Nexacu. In-house programs, consultancy and room hire are arranged directly with the Wizard team.

How we teach.

• Instructor-led, always. Nothing is pre-recorded and there is no platform to log into afterwards.
• Small groups. Small enough that everyone gets hands on the keyboard, or speaks out loud, more than once.
• Practise, not watch. Each module is taught and then done, on our exercise files or on your own.
• One day, mostly. Long enough to change what someone can do, short enough that a manager will approve it.
• You take it with you. A printed workbook, the exercise files, and notes in your own words.

What we teach.

75 courses across 16 software categories — Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Access, Teams, Visio, SharePoint and Power BI, plus Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Premiere Pro and Captivate — and 27 professional development courses covering leadership, communication, writing, resilience and the rest of the work that is not software at all.

Where we run.

A CBD training room in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra, with a workstation each on software courses — or live online with the same facilitator, the same practice and breakout groups instead of tables. Teams spread across states usually pick online; teams in one office usually do not.

Working with us.

Most people book a seat on a public course. Where four or more people need the same thing, in-house is usually cheaper and always more relevant, because the day runs on your files rather than ours. Where the need is bigger than a course, there is consultancy and customisation. And if you just need a room, our rooms in all six capitals are available by the day.
